Jason Isbell Lexington Concert reviews
Where In The World Was Cat Power?
Wow! Chan Marshall's live performance at the Uptown Theatre was a disappointing experience. The audience, like us, highly anticipated this show, but it didn't live up to our expectations. My daughters and I love Cat Power's recordings.
Chan Marshall's stage presence was lacking during the performance. Her strange hand gestures and movements didn't seem to match the music. She appeared to be lost in her own world, with a surprisingly limited vocal range. The oddest moment was when she abruptly exited the stage, leaving the band and the audience confused.
When she eventually returned, she sang a few more songs and threw flowers into the crowd without any clear purpose. The audience even shouted at the band to start playing. It felt like a tame and controlled performance by Cat Power. This is perhaps why the concert didn't sell out.
Overall, we were left feeling disappointed by Chan Marshall's lackluster live show at the Uptown Theatre.
